C.E.R.T. Community Emergency Response Team

A hands-on community response team to assist the local emergency responders in the event of a disaster, natural or manmade.

Join your neighbors and make the City of Vinita Park a safer place.

The CERT Team is trained and equipped with assistance from the Department of Homeland Security.  Once the training is completed, the CERT Team will be called out to assist during times such as the ice storm and power outage of a couple years ago, or in the event of a tornado strike.  Duties will include assisting the Police and Fire Departments with notifications, check the welfare and light search and rescue operations.

If you would like to join the CERT Team, please call Officer Will Luu at 314-428-7373

Scams

If it sounds to good to be true; then it probably is. North American Lotto under the guise of 'Publishers Clearing House' and other legitimate companies, is running a scam in which they declare an individual has won millions of dollars in cash prizes from a sweepstakes. All the individual has to do is forward thousands of dollars of their own money to cover the taxes required by the IRS before the prize money (in the form of a bogus cashiers check) can be activated and cashed. The scammers will usually request that the money be fowarded via money gram /western union to some remote location in Florida or overseas. Once they (scammers) have your money, they direct you to deposit the cashiers check into your account knowing that it will usually take a week or so before your bank discovers the check is bogus. By that time they have already cashed your check and gotten to your savings. They usually target Senior Citizens. If you receive any suspicious mail or phone calls regarding such call us immediately.
